The Critical Gap in OT Cybersecurity Training Is Closed. Cynalytica Launches CyRenLAB for Applied, Real-World Learning

Riyadh, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia— 18 November 2025 — Cynalytica Inc., a leader in Industrial Control System (ICS) and Operational Technology (OT) cybersecurity, today announced the global availability of CyRenLAB, the world’s first comprehensive ICS/OT educational platform that provides students, engineers, and operators with fully applied, hands-on learning across all industrial communication layers — Analog (4–20mA), Serial (RS-232/485/422), and Ethernet/IP.

CyRenLAB sets a new international standard for ICS/OT education by combining real industrial hardware, real protocols, and live physical processes into a unified training platform. This enables practitioners to gain practical skills that directly reflect the operational realities of critical infrastructure systems worldwide.

A Complete, Hands-On ICS/OT Curriculum

At the core of CyRenLAB Workshop is a robust, two-day curriculum that blends foundational instruction with extensive hands-on laboratory exercises:

Day 1 – ICS/OT Workshop

  • ICS/OT fundamentals and global threat landscape
  • Purdue Model Levels L0–L3
  • Deep dive into analog, serial, and IP industrial communications
  • Demonstrations of CyRenLAB, SerialGuard, OTNetGuard, and AnalytICS Engine

Day 2 – Applied LAB Exercises

Participants train using real devices, signals, and communication flows:

  • Analog (4–20mA) LAB – sensor signal capture, drift detection, anomaly identification
  • Serial (RS-232/485/422) LAB – packet decoding, timing analysis, baseline creation
  • Ethernet/IP LAB –ICS/OT IP traffic analysis, anomaly detection
  • Integrated ICS LAB – multi-layer correlation across analog, serial, and IP data

The curriculum also includes scenario-based exploit labs for the water and electrical sectors, where learners detect and analyze real-world cyber-physical attacks across Levels 0–3.

Successful Training Delivery in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia

As part of its global rollout, Cynalytica recently partnered with PwC Middle East to deliver CyRenLAB to government agencies and commercial ICS/OT operators in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. These workshops provided participants with immersive, hands-on experience using real industrial communications and advanced detection techniques.

Attendees gained practical capabilities in:

  • Multi-layer industrial communication monitoring
  • Identifying anomalies in live analog, serial, and IP data
  • Investigating coordinated ICS/OT exploits
  • Applying machine learning and AI to ICS datasets

“The joint workshops with Cynalytica strengthened our shared commitment to advancing ICS and OT security across the Kingdom. Over 40 professionals took part and valued the  operational realism, technical depth and direct relevance to today’s critical infrastructure challenges. This collaboration reflects PwC Middle East’s focus on building national capabilities, supporting secure industrial transformation and helping organisations protect the systems that power the region’s growth.” said Clinton Firth, Cybersecurity and Digital Trust Partner, PwC Middle East

“CyRenLAB gives practitioners an unprecedented, hands-on view into how industrial systems actually communicate and how attacks manifest within those signals,” said Richard Robinson, CEO of Cynalytica. “Our successful workshops in Saudi Arabia with PwC Middle East demonstrated the global demand for immersive, real-world ICS/OT training. CyRenLAB is designed to meet that need—everywhere in the world.

Strengthening Global Industrial Cyber Preparedness

CyRenLAB supports universities, national cybersecurity agencies, training academies, and critical infrastructure operators worldwide by providing a scalable, realistic environment for learning, testing, and validating ICS/OT security practices.

The platform directly enhances:

  • Cyber workforce development
  • Critical infrastructure readiness
  • Research and development in ICS/OT security
  • AI/ML applications for industrial anomaly detection
